About the Role
Canopy is seeking a skilled, professional, and highly adaptable Onsite Installer to execute the installation of Canopy's safety services at healthcare facilities nationwide. In this role, you will be responsible for installing both indoor and outdoor components of our system, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure full coverage and maximum service effectiveness.
You will work closely with Canopy’s Project Managers, Customer Success Managers (CSMs), Technical Account Services, and Product and Engineering teams to drive efficient installations and optimize customer outcomes. Your ability to work respectfully in healthcare environments—often around clinical staff and patients—is critical to success.
This is a travel-heavy role (up to 75%) requiring a high degree of professionalism, technical aptitude, and physical readiness (ladder and drill work required for outdoor installs).
Key Responsibilities
- Process customer floor plans per Canopy guidelines, ensuring coverage needed to keep healthcare staff safe.
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to map optimal device placements and contribute to ongoing improvements in service coverage.
- Install Canopy indoor gateways and outdoor nodes according to detailed deployment plans and site maps.
- Travel to customer sites across the U.S. for scheduled installations, sometimes on short notice.
- Collaborate with the Project Management, Customer Success, and Technical Account Services teams to deliver high-quality, efficient installs.
- Engage respectfully and empathetically with healthcare professionals and, occasionally, patients during onsite work.
- Adhere to healthcare facility protocols, including infection control policies, patient privacy guidelines, and etiquette requirements.
- Troubleshoot installation issues onsite and escalate challenges quickly to internal teams.
- Provide field feedback on hardware provisioning, installation processes, and customer experience to continuously improve Canopy's deployment practices.
- Maintain detailed installation documentation and provide post-install reports to the project team.
- Safely handle ladders, drills, and other basic tools necessary for outdoor installations.
- Represent Canopy’s mission and values with professionalism and care in every customer interaction.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in field installation, hardware deployment, or similar hands-on roles.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% nationwide.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable interacting with clinical staff, hospital administrators, and patients.
- Ability to follow detailed installation plans and floor maps.
- Hands-on proficiency with basic tools (ladder, drill) for indoor and outdoor installations.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. - Ability to work independently onsite while maintaining close collaboration with internal teams.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced healthcare environments with strict etiquette and safety standards.
- Respect for privacy, patient confidentiality, and hospital-specific protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in healthcare, hospital, or clinical environments.
- Familiarity with plug-in hardware installation (similar to setting up home Wi-Fi routers or smart devices).
- Ability to interpret floor plans, maps, and site layouts for optimal device placement.
- Comfort using Google Maps and satellite views to understand site layouts and plan outdoor installations.
- Understanding of basic wireless device placement to optimize coverage (training provided).
- Basic workplace safety knowledge; OSHA 10 certification a plus but not required.
